Clinical Psychologist

license PSY22255

I am a licensed psychologist who enjoys working with adults, children, adolescents, couples, and families. I believe the process of change requires an approach that fits the individual as well as the problems being addressed. Therefore, I work collaboratively with clients in a respectful, pragmatic, and caring way to help them identify and alter the thoughts, behaviors, and interpersonal styles that no longer serve their needs. My approach integrates scientifically validated cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and family systems theories and considers both biological and psychological contributions to one’s experience. In addition to psychotherapy, I also conduct psychological evaluations for clients of all ages, which can provide a better understanding of one’s personality characteristics and cognitive strengths and weaknesses. I find it both extremely rewarding and an honor to participate in such an important process of change with my clients, and to guide them to reach their full potential so they may live the most satisfying lives possible.

Some of problems I help clients with include:

Education and Training

I received my B.A. in psychology from San Jose State University and then attended the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium where I received my doctorate and Master of Science degrees in clinical psychology. During my graduate training, I had the privilege of studying under many leading psychologists and psychiatrists at Stanford Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry. I have extensive experience working with veterans at multiple VA clinics, including the National Center for PTSD, where I conducted research on the impact of PTSD on the spouses and families of veterans diagnosed with PTSD. My previous experience at community mental health clinics gave me the opportunity to work with individuals with limited resources who often presented with severe and chronic mental health disorders or in crisis situations. I also completed a year-long post-doctoral residency focused specifically on psychotherapy and psychological testing of children and adolescents.

Personal Background

As a native of the Bay Area, I have lived here in San Jose the majority of my life where I previously worked in the engineering industry. I believe that my life experiences, my successes and failures as an individual, a husband, and a parent have seasoned my perspective and have influenced my approach as a clinician.
